Dr. Pesi Amaria is an adjunct faculty at the Argosy University – Sarasota and Tampa campuses teaching in the School of Business & Information Technology since 2005. Professor Amaria studied Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in Bombay, India, and worked for a large manufacturing company Godrej & Boyce. In 1963, Professor Amaria went to England to study for his masters and doctorate degrees in Engineering Production and Management at the University of Birmingham, England. In England, he worked for the English Electric Company in Liverpool and Rugby, and for the Rover Motor Company, Birmingham. In 1969, Professor Amaria joined the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada where he developed expertise in the applications of computer technology for improving productivity and quality in the seafood industry. For his invention on processing machine he holds U.S.A. and Canadian Patents.
In 1981, Professor Amaria became Professor of Computer Science and Information Systems and as Professor of Operations Management/MIS at Salem State College, Massachusetts. There, he served as chairperson of the OM/MIS department and also as chair of the school of business strategic planning committee. Besides teaching and research, Professor Amaria provides consulting services in experimental design and statistical data analysis to businesses. He retired in 2002 as Professor Emeritus, OM/MIS but continued to teach part-time at Salem State; Northeastern University; Boston University; UNH, Durham; and SNHU, Manchester.
Professor Amaria was recognized for his work at the Gloucester Technology Lab, National Marine Fisheries Service, Department of Commerce; cited by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for Outstanding Performance; recognized as the Mentor of the Year by the American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS); and received an award for Excellence from the Graduate School, Salem State College.
Professor Amaria has completed a British Standards Institute training course in ISO9000 and the Mass-Excellence examiner's course for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program. Professor Amaria is a member of the Lions Club International, Manchester by the Sea, MA. His hobbies are painting and chess.
